AOT Urges APC Supporters to Remain Calm, United, Mobilise for Tinubu’s Re-election

 

Dr Alabi Oluwatoyin Tajudeen (AOT), a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress APC in Kwara State has urged party supporters to remain calm, united, and shun violence in the face of provocation to ensure the reelection of President Bola Ahmed in 2027 in the state.

Speaking at the the official launch of The Otógẹ́ Progressives (TOP) Rainbow Coalition held at AMBA Open Space, Audi Road, Fate, Ilorin. and at several consultative meetings he held with APC members across the local government and Kwara South,  Alabi reaffirmed his commitment and that of the G15 to remain in APC.

He explained that those leaving the party are doing so to achieve their political ambition and ensure the salvation of the state from incompetent candidate Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq imposed on the party.

According to him, the G15 has resolved to ensure that no candidate imposed on them by Governor AbdulRazaq return or win in 2027.

He urged the APC supporters to work hard to ensure landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed and in the state and salvage the party from total ruin.

“Democracy had come to stay in Nigeria and it must be inclusive and bringing dividends of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of our communities across the three senatorial districts.

“Everyone should go and collect their voter’s card and ensure we all come out enmass to vote for the President and selected competent representatives at various level,” he said

The APC governorship aspirant also held series of consultative meetings with various political groups in the state, local government and Senatorial District to explain the move and decision by The Otoge Progressives, saying people should not be confused but united to move the state ahead and reject imposition of candidates.

He said the political realignment by the group was not driven by a selfish desire to abandon the APC, but by a determination to strengthen the party, deepen internal democracy and rescue the state from what he described as the imposition of incompetent candidates.

According to him, democracy thrives on participation, consultation, fairness and respect for the choice of the people, stressing that no individual or group should monopolise the political process.

Alabi explained that while some politicians might be pursuing their aspirations through different platforms, the G15’s position remains clear: to remain in the APC and work towards the emergence of credible, competent and widely accepted candidates.

He said the group had resolved to oppose what it described as the imposition of candidates ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that electoral victory must be earned through the confidence and support of the people.

“The essence of democracy is choice. Our people must be allowed to choose those who will represent them. We cannot build a strong party by imposing candidates on the people,” he said.

The APC chieftain therefore urged party supporters across Kwara State to remain focused and avoid actions capable of undermining the party or disrupting the peace of the state.

He particularly called for massive mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, saying the President deserves the support of APC members who believe in the continuation of his administration and success of his various reforms.

“Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria, and it must be inclusive, participatory and capable of bringing the dividends of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of our communities across the three senatorial districts,” Alabi said.

“Everyone should go and collect their voter’s card and ensure we all come out en masse to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and competent representatives at various levels,” he said.

Alabi also emphasised the importance of peaceful political engagement, urging APC supporters not to allow provocation to push them into violence.

He said political differences should be resolved through dialogue, consultation and the democratic process, rather than confrontation.

He said the consultations with various groups and supporters were necessary to prevent misinformation and ensure that party members and citizens fully understood the group’s position.

He said Kwara State deserved a political system where every citizen had a voice and where leadership was determined by the people rather than imposed through political machinery.

He appealed to all political actors to put the interest of Kwara above personal ambition, stressing that the ultimate goal should be a peaceful, prosperous and better-governed state.

“We must put Kwara first. Politics should not be about personal interests alone; it should be about service, development, inclusion and improving the lives of our people,” he said.
