AIG Jimoh Reaffirms Rule of Law, Fairness as IEDPU Delegation Pays Courtesy Visit

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has reaffirmed his commitment to professional policing, justice, fairness and respect for fundamental human rights.
Jimoh made the commitment when he received a delegation of the Ilorin Emirates Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), led by its National President, Assistant Comptroller-General of Immigration, ACG A. A. AbdulMalik (Rtd.), on a courtesy visit to the zonal headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.
The visit was aimed at appreciating the AIG, a prominent indigene of Ilorin, for his distinguished career, professionalism and contributions to national service.
Speaking during the visit, AbdulMalik commended Jimoh for his dedication to duty and his contributions to promoting peace and security across Lagos and Ogun States.
The IEDPU president described the AIG as a disciplined, principled and dutiful police officer whose professional conduct reflects the values of good character, integrity and responsible citizenship.
He attributed Jimoh’s exemplary character, in part, to the values he acquired at Barakat Community Secondary School, Ilorin, Kwara State, where the AIG received his secondary education. The school is one of the educational institutions established by the IEDPU.
According to AbdulMalik, the union’s commitment extends beyond academic excellence, noting that its schools are also established to nurture moral discipline, good virtues, sound societal values and exemplary character among students.
He expressed confidence that Jimoh would continue to discharge his responsibilities with diligence and integrity while upholding the rule of law.
Responding, AIG Jimoh expressed appreciation to the IEDPU leadership and members for the visit and the goodwill extended to him.
The AIG acknowledged the union’s longstanding interest in his career, saying its support and encouragement had remained a source of motivation.
He described the recognition as both an honour and a reminder of the responsibilities attached to public service.
Jimoh said: “I reaffirm my commitment to the professional discharge of my constitutional responsibilities, guided by the rule of law, respect for fundamental human rights and the principles of justice and fairness.”
He further assured that justice would be pursued “without fear or favour”, irrespective of the social status, position or class of any individual.
The AIG said the Zone 2 Headquarters would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to protect lives and property, maintain public order and strengthen security across Lagos and Ogun States.
The visit underscored the importance of sustained cooperation between the police and community-based organisations in promoting peace, security and public confidence in law enforcement.
