Kwara NSCDC, Al-Hikmah University Deepen Security Partnership Over Campus Safety

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has pledged to strengthen its security partnership with Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, to protect students, staff and critical infrastructure against emerging security threats.
The State Commandant of the Corps, Commandant Abbas Ndah Mohammed, gave the assurance on Friday, August 21, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Abdullateef Oladimeji, at the institution’s premises in Ilorin.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, ASC I Ayoola Michael Shola, the visit was aimed at consolidating the existing relationship between the NSCDC and the university while exploring ways to further improve security around the institution.
Commandant Abbas said the Corps remained committed to supporting the university in maintaining a safe environment conducive to teaching, learning and research.
He explained that the NSCDC, as the lead agency in the Federal Government’s Safe School Project, works with relevant stakeholders and sister security agencies to safeguard educational institutions across the country.
He said, “The Corps holds Al-Hikmah University in high esteem, hence our willingness to partner and consolidate on the existing cordial relationship.”
The commandant further assured the university management that the NSCDC would enhance security surveillance within the institution and its immediate surroundings to prevent criminal activities and respond promptly to emerging threats.
He added that the Command would provide the necessary support to ensure that security standards at the university remained high.
Responding, Prof. Abdullateef Oladimeji commended the NSCDC for its continued support and described the Corps as a dependable partner in maintaining peace and security on the university campus.
The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the impact of the Corps’ presence in discouraging criminal activities around the institution and called for stronger collaboration to tackle emerging security challenges.
The meeting is expected to further strengthen the existing partnership between the NSCDC and Al-Hikmah University, particularly in the areas of security surveillance, crime prevention and protection of members of the university community.
