Dr. Alabi Mourns Ex-UNILORIN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali

 

Dr. Alabi Oluwatoyin Tajudeen (AOT) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and former Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, OON, CON, who died on Saturday at the age of 68.

In a condolence message, Dr. Alabi described the late Professor Ambali as an accomplished scholar, seasoned administrator, and distinguished statesman whose immense contributions to the development of higher education in Kwara State and Nigeria would remain evergreen.

According to him, Prof Ambali’s tenure in leadership positions across academic institutions was marked by visionary administration, commitment to excellence, and dedication to institutional growth.

He noted that the late academic icon left behind a legacy of service, integrity, and outstanding achievements that would continue to inspire future generations.

Dr. Alabi also recalled Prof. Ambali’s humility, simplicity, and accessibility, describing him as a leader who related warmly with people from all backgrounds and was always ready to provide guidance, encouragement, and support.

“Beyond his impressive academic accomplishments, Professor Ambali was a man of great character and uncommon humility. His calm disposition, wisdom, and commitment to humanity earned him widespread respect and admiration,” he said.

He described the late former Vice-Chancellor’s death as a monumental loss to the academic community, Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and the nation, noting that Nigeria has lost a patriot and exemplary leader whose impact will be felt for many years.

Dr. Alabi extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the management, staff and alumni of the University of Ilorin, the authorities of KWASU, Malete, and the entire people of Kwara State.

He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, accept his good deeds, grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and give his family, friends, and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return,” Dr. Alabi added.
