EKSU Dismisses 13 Staff Over Misconduct, Rewards Outstanding Scholars

 

The management of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, has dismissed 13 staff members over allegations of indiscipline, sexual misconduct, and neglect of duty, as part of efforts to uphold academic integrity and discipline in the institution.

Announcing the decision on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph B. Ayachi, stated that nine of the affected staff were dismissed for “indiscipline and impunity,” three for abandoning their duty posts, and one for sexual misconduct.

Accordingto him, the university will not tolerate any form of misconduct that undermines our academic standards,”

“Discipline and excellence remain our guiding principles.”

In addition to the dismissals, 21 staff members received warnings for various offences, while three others were barred from holding leadership positions for three years.

The Vice-Chancellor made the announcement during a press conference ahead of the university’s 29th convocation ceremony, scheduled for March 29, 2025.

He revealed that 16,446 students will graduate, with 200 earning first-class honors.

“The success of our students is a testament to EKSU’s commitment to academic excellence.

We take pride in producing graduates who will contribute meaningfully to society,” Ayachi added.

As part of the convocation celebrations, the university will confer honorary doctorate degrees on distinguished individuals, including Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zach Adedeji.

The Vice-Chancellor also announced the promotion of 16 junior non-teaching staff, 209 senior non-teaching staff, and several academic staff members, reaffirming EKSU’s dedication to rewarding hard work and dedication.
