UNILORIN VC, Another Don, Olatoke, Join Body of Benchers….as UNILORIN NUJ Congratulates Them

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and another Professor of Law at the University, Olukayode Joshua Olatoke, SAN, have been appointed Members of the Body of Benchers, the apex body responsible for the governance of the Legal Profession in the country.
A statement by the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, disclosed that “the appointments of the renowned legal luminaries are contained in separate letters sent to them by the Secretary to the Body of Benchers, Mr Daniel L. Tela.
The letter, dated March 31, 2026, indicated that the appointments, which take immediate effect, are for a period of three years.
The two dons are specialists in Jurisprudence and International Law.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), University of Ilorin Chapel, has congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, on his appointment as a Member of the Body of Benchers.
In a congratulatory message jointly signed by its Chairman, Hon. Adewoyin Tijani Adekola, and Secretary, Comrade Bashirat Omotosho, the NUJ UNILORIN Chapel described the appointment as “well-deserved” and “a testament to Prof. Egbewole’s distinguished scholarship, impeccable integrity, and outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the Nigerian university system.”
The Chapel noted that the Vice Chancellor’s elevation into the prestigious body brings immense pride to the entire University of Ilorin community.
“We are confident that you will bring your wealth of experience, wisdom, and commitment to excellence to bear on the affairs of the Body of Benchers, further enriching the standards of legal practice in Nigeria,” the statement read.
The NUJ UNILORIN Chapel also prayed for sound health, wisdom, and strength for Prof. Egbewole as he undertakes the national assignment.
