Prof. Egbewole Greets Muslims on Eid El-Kabir

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated members of the University Muslim Community on the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Kabir festival.

Prof. Egbewole, in a statement issued on his behalf by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun at the weekend, rejoiced with Muslim staff and students of the University for witnessing and partaking in the festival, saying this is not by their making but by divine grace.

The Vice Chancellor, however, admonished the Muslims to look beyond the festivities that accompany the occasion and imbibe the lessons of patience, sacrifice, steadfastness and obedience that are inherent in the historical event that is at the root of the festival.

Prof. Egbewole commended staff and students of the University for their sacrifice, patience, and hard work, saying that these are the attributes that make the University tick.

He particularly appealed to members of the University community to bear
with the management on the recently introduced energy-saving measures to bring down the unsustainable monthly electricity bills ɓeing incurred by the University.

He said that such measures are necessary to free some resources that would be deployed for other critical developmental purposes.

While assuring all that no sacrifice made with genuine intention would be in vain, the Vice Chancellor said, “Just as Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Prophet Ismaeel reaped bountiful rewards of their sacrifice, obedience to Allah, and high sense of patience, our staff and students would definitely get the reward of their hard work and sacrifices in due course, as management would never take the issue of their welfare with levity”.
