Prof. Egbewole Celebrates Yusuf Ali at 70, Hails Legal Icon’s Impact on Education

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has described the Kuliya of Ilorin, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, as an embodiment of excellence, integrity and selfless service, as the renowned legal practitioner clocks 70.

Egbewole, in a congratulatory message issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said Ali’s contributions to the legal profession and the education sector had continued to leave a lasting impact on society.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the 70th birthday of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria provided an opportunity to celebrate not only his longevity but also his remarkable accomplishments and enduring contributions to the nation.

According to him, Ali has distinguished himself as one of the finest practitioners of the legal profession, combining professional excellence with integrity and a strong commitment to the advancement of justice.

He described the celebrant, who is also an international arbitrator of repute, as a lawyer who has consistently raised the standards of advocacy and professional excellence.

Egbewole, however, said Ali’s influence extends beyond the courtroom, stressing that his generosity and commitment to education had made significant contributions to the development of the University of Ilorin.

“Beyond the courtroom, the legendary generosity and unwavering commitment of this legal icon to the development of education have left indelible marks on our great University,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor said Ali’s life at 70 represents a compelling example of wisdom, humility and service, adding that his accomplishments have brought honour not only to the legal profession but also to humanity.

He said the entire University community—including the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff and students—joined in celebrating the legal luminary on the milestone occasion.

Egbewole prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to grant Prof. Ali good health, strength and many more years of fruitful and impactful service to the nation and mankind.
