Group Appeals to President Tinubu, Gov AbdulRazaq Over Imposition of  Candidate as Against Rotation

A group of Kwarans in Lagos State have expressed their displeasure over the imposition of governorship candidate in Kwara by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary, Mr Ganiyu Babatunde on behalf of  the group in Lagos State.

According to him, we Kwara in Lagos  respectfully express our deep concern and displeasure regarding the recent imposition and consensus choice of your candidate on our state chapter without due rotational consideration of other regions or adherence to democratic principles.

“As a political organization, committed to good governance, internal democracy, and the rule of law, we believe that leadership must emerge through fairness, equity, justice and transparent participatory processes that reflect the will of the people.

“The unilateral imposition of a candidate undermines trust in the party structure, disenfranchises loyal members, and weakens the democratic values we all claim to uphold.

However, our state comprises three senatorial districts of which each region is occupied with best brains and with capability of pushing the state higher than we could imagine.

Your adoption of a consensus candidate from Kwara central speaks negatively to the growth of democracy in our dear state, it disregards the voices of other regions and also demoralizes the spirit of unity in the entire state. Such action is counterproductive especially as we prepare for the election period where our unity is very much essential than division.

Kwara in Lagos members have been active at the grassroots, mobilizing support and promoting the ideals of inclusive governance.

Your Excellency, we appeal to you to reconsider this action and allow a fair and open process where stakeholders can choose their preferred candidate. This will restore confidence, strengthen party cohesion, and demonstrate your commitment to true democracy.

We remain loyal to the progress of our state and party, and we trust you will treat this matter with the urgency and fairness it deserves.
