The Igbaja People’s Forum (IPF) Special Summer School has returned this year with record-breaking numbers, and one of the community’s leading voices, Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi, has commended the programme.
This is contained in a statement released by his media team, at the weekend, noting that the historic town of Igbaja has become a place where education is treasured as a path to progress and fast becoming a cultural institution.
Just few days into the 2025 edition, the volunteer-driven programme has already enrolled 430 students. A figure that underscores the trust it enjoys among parents and the hunger for learning among Igbaja’s youth.
“This is more than just holiday lessons,” Dr. Alabi said. “It is a deliberate investment in the future of our children and our community. With every student that participates, we are raising a generation that will be better equipped academically, morally, and socially.”
The programme, which caters to both Junior and Senior Secondary School students, builds on the resounding success of the 2024 IPF Mega Summer School.
Last year, its top three participants posted stellar results in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) including multiple distinctions, a performance that cemented the initiative’s reputation for producing results.
This year’s edition has gone a step further, expanding its curriculum to include digital literacy, public speaking, and creative arts, alongside core academic subjects. Welfare has also been made a priority — students receive daily meals, ensuring that no child studies on an empty stomach.
For Dr. Alabi, a respected entrepreneur, philanthropist, and President of the Igbaja Progressive Union National Executive Council (IPUNEC), the Summer School is proof that community-led initiatives can change lives.
“When communities take ownership of their development, the impact is deeper and longer-lasting,” he noted, calling on individuals, corporate organizations, and government agencies to support the programme.
The IPF Special Summer School is quietly rewriting Igbaja’s educational story — one student at a time. And for leaders like Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi, its success is not just an achievement but a call to action for the entire community.
