The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, describing his eight-year tenure as one marked by exemplary leadership, integrity and exceptional service to the nation.

Prof. Oloyede’s second and final term as JAMB Registrar comes to an end on Friday, bringing to a close a tenure widely acknowledged for reforms that enhanced transparency, accountability and efficiency in Nigeria’s tertiary admissions process.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary of the Union, Mallam Suleiman Shuaib Dagbo, the National President of the IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, said the Union joined numerous well-meaning Nigerians in celebrating the remarkable achievements of the emeritus professor during his stewardship of the examination body.

According to Abdulmalik, Prof. Oloyede’s tenure at JAMB will remain a reference point for visionary leadership and institutional transformation.

He noted that the Union had closely followed the distinguished academic’s career from his days as a student of the University of Ilorin to his emergence as a lecturer, Vice-Chancellor of the institution and later Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB.

“Throughout his career, Prof. Oloyede has consistently demonstrated that he is a goal-getter, an accomplished administrator and a patriotic Nigerian whose commitment to excellence has positively impacted national development,” the statement said.

The IEDPU President commended Prof. Oloyede’s immense contributions to nation-building, describing him as one of the country’s finest public servants whose dedication, honesty and selfless service have earned him respect across Nigeria and beyond.

He added that beyond his achievements in the education sector, Prof. Oloyede has distinguished himself through his contributions to religious harmony, cultural heritage preservation and community development.

Abdulmalik also acknowledged the professor’s role as the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), saying his leadership has continued to promote peace, understanding and national cohesion.

He observed that Prof. Oloyede’s residence in Ilorin for nearly five decades has been a tremendous blessing to the Ilorin Emirate, noting that he has remained a worthy ambassador of the community through his unwavering commitment to excellence and service.

The IEDPU President urged Nigerians, particularly younger generations and public office holders, to emulate the diligence, integrity and sense of responsibility exemplified by the renowned academic, who also holds the traditional title of Kuliyan Sokoto.

He expressed confidence that the values demonstrated by Prof. Oloyede throughout his career would continue to inspire future leaders and strengthen public confidence in national institutions.

While congratulating the outgoing JAMB Registrar on the successful completion of his tenure, Abdulmalik wished him greater accomplishments in his future endeavours and prayed that Almighty Allah would grant him good health, wisdom and strength for continued service to humanity and the nation.
