Emir of Ilorin Congratulates Justice Sulyman Durosinlohun Kawu on Appointment as Chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria

 

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has congratulated Justice Sulyman Durosinlohun Kawu on his appointment as the Chairman of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria.

While thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for the honour, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a statement issued on Thursday by his Spokesman, Dr. Arowona Abdulazeez, described the appointment as a fitting recognition of Justice Kawu’s decades of meritorious service to the judiciary and the nation.

The monarch recalled that Justice Kawu served creditably as the Chief Judge of Kwara State, where he championed judicial reforms, speedy dispensation of justice, and improved welfare for judicial officers.

Alhaji Sulu-Sulu-Gambari added that, “His tenure was marked by integrity, transparency, and a firm commitment to upholding the rule of law.

“Justice Kawu’s elevation to this national assignment is well deserved. His track record as Chief Judge of Kwara State speaks to his capacity, fairness, and dedication to justice. We are confident he will bring the same excellence to the Legal Aid Council.”

The Emir who served as the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division before his ancesion to the throne in 1995, noted that the Legal Aid Council plays a critical role in ensuring that indigent Nigerians have access to justice, and expressed optimism that Justice Kawu’s wealth of experience will reposition the Council for greater efficiency and impact.

He however prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the new Chairman sound health, wisdom, and the strength to discharge his duties with impartiality and dedication in the service of the nation.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari therefore urged Nigerians to support the Legal Aid Council under Justice Kawu’s leadership to ensure that justice is not denied to the poor and vulnerable.
