Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ile-Ire, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, have declared their support for Dr. Alabi Oluwatoyin Tajudeen (AOT), a frontline governorship aspirant of the party in the state.

Speaking at a well-attended meeting of party members and community leaders, the APC Chairman in the community, Mr. Olumide Ogunbiyi, said the people were impressed by Dr. Alabi’s vision and developmental programmes for Kwara State.

According to him, Dr. Alabi’s visionary leadership, competence and integrity would usher in a new era of development, inclusiveness and prosperity in the state, if given the mandate.

“We have resolved, after listening to you, to adopt you as our candidate and support your emergence as the next governor of Kwara State.

“Our careful assessment of your record in community service, philanthropy and leadership in the private sector is a testament to your quality and preparedness to lead the state,” he said.

Ogunbiyi, however, appealed to the governorship hopeful to assist the community with road infrastructure to provide residents with easier access to the state capital and neighbouring communities.

“We sincerely appeal to you to help rehabilitate our roads in order to improve access to Ilorin and surrounding communities,” he added.

Earlier in his address, Dr. Alabi reiterated his commitment to transforming Kwara State through his proposed seven-point agenda centred on security, free and compulsory world-class education, quality healthcare, agricultural revolution, modern infrastructure, tourism development and inclusive prosperity.

According to him, politics should be driven by service to humanity, vision and commitment to the welfare of the people rather than personal interests.

“A greater Kwara is possible if we work together with sincerity, unity and the fear of God,” he said.

He urged the people to work towards his emergence as the next governor, describing his governorship ambition as “God’s agenda” for the people of Kwara State.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Alabi had attended an intercessory prayer session at the Igbomina House organised by the Christian wing for the peace, security and development of Igbominaland.

The prayer session was organised by Sir Bisi Fakayode led executive alongside other clerics, including Rev. Dr. R. I. Ibitoye, Rev. Dr. S. O. Olanrewaju, Rev. Moses Babatunde and Rev. G. Olaoye, among many others.

Special prayers were offered for peace, security, restoration of deserted communities in Igbominaland; and political relevance and victory for Igbomina candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Alabi also visited the Church of Ascension, Bishop’s Court, Fate Road, Ilorin, where he received a prestigious award alongside other recipients from the Delight Elites Christian Association.

Speaking at the event, Dr Alabi appreciated the organisers for the recognition and support for his aspiration.

He urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country, but to continue praying for the nation, the state and its leaders in line with biblical injunctions.

The APC stalwart also attended a seminar organised by the National Association of Nigerian Mathematical Science Students (NANMSS), University of Ilorin Chapter.

At the event, the association honoured him with an award of recognition, while Dr. Alabi donated N100,000 to the winner of the secondary school quiz competition held during the seminar.

The governorship aspirant addressed the crowd of students and explained his education agenda for the state, which drew a loud applause from the students that filled the lecture theatre hall at the UNILORIN campus.
