Gov. AbdulRazaq Urges Residents To Be Vigilant, Support Security Agencies Against Crime

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has stressed the need for everyone in the state to play more active role in protecting their communities by being vigilant and supportive of security agencies
Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by the Deputy governor Dr Kayode Alabi made the call at the public presentation of book launch entitled, Kwara: ‘The Political Journey so far, in Ilorin’
AbdulRazaq, who stressed the need to volunteer useful intelligence to the security agencies said “Let us unite in stamping out crimes by playing our roles in strengthening family ties, looking after the poor and repairing broken social fabric.”
He also kicked against violence, slander, verbal assault, apathy as the nation is gradually moving into another election cycle.
“This is the time to engage ourselves in proper debate about the future. Our administration is making hard decisions about the future of our state, while gradually addressing infrastructural deficits and deprivations of the past with limited resources” he said
He commended the author for a well- research book, urging everyone to endeavour to buy and read the book.
“I’m impressed that Kwara is standing out for good in terms of our people documenting contemporary history and giving perspectives to sociopolitical events in and around our state.
“It is a healthy development, which speaks to the intellectual disposition of the people of Kwara state.
“I hope to see more efforts dedicated into putting things in perspectives so that generations unborn can understand our journey as a people. Such efforts will guide us and generations unborn to make informed decisions about the future.
“It helps to also remind everyone, especially people in public office and every player, that out actions and inactions could be a subject of history.”
A guest speaker at the event Dr Abdulwaheed Musa, Senior Lecturer Kwara State University, Malete in his lecture entitled ‘ roles of youths in historical and contemporary political space’ described the youths as leader of tomorrow from today.
He reiterated the not too young to run bill which have provided the enabling legal frame work for youths to be able to actually participate in politics “before now you can’t contest for presidential elections if you are not beyond the age range of a youth which was 40 as it is now is 35, you can be a senator when you are just 30 years old they are good to go”
He stressed the need to provide enabling environment for youths to be able to participate more in politics.
He stressed the need to propel the contemporary youths to rededicate themselves to do more than earlier youths have been able to do.
“It is good for youth to be actively involve in politics. They are the one who want to take the front line, the reason is because they are the highest in population, over 60 percent of our population, that alone should actually propel them to participate very actively be it former setting or informal setting” He said.

The Author of of the book John Kehinde Salako said the book is a compendium of major development that shaped the politics of Ilorin Kabba provinces from 1960-2019. ”
In one of the chapters of the book I was able to list numbers of factors that lead to the lost of PDP to APC in 2019 so that the current government led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak would draw a lesson on what happened to PDP in 2019″
He expressed delight for the large turn out of invited guest at the occasion, added that the governor is youth friendly, commited in improving the lots of youth in the state.
“As it is often said that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow, Nigeria is blessed with youths who have capacity, who have competence, who have character to be integrated into mainstream political governance I appreciate his support.” He said
He urged the youths to develop themselves in their respective fields of human endeavour, ” They should distinguished themselves in whatever they are doing, they should also cultivate good reading culture” he added.
