The Chairman of the Igbaja Progressive Union National Executive Council (IPUNEC), Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Christopher Kolade, former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, describing his death as “a monumental loss to the nation and the African continent.”

In a condolence message issued on Friday, Dr. Alabi paid glowing tribute to the late elder statesman, whom he described as “a symbol of integrity, excellence, and selfless service.”

He noted that Dr. Kolade’s distinguished career spanned several sectors — broadcasting, corporate leadership, diplomacy, and education — leaving behind a remarkable legacy of commitment and moral strength.

Dr. Alabi recalled the late Kolade’s illustrious service as Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, positions he said were marked by dignity, wisdom, and uncommon dedication.

“Dr. Christopher Kolade lived an exemplary life that mirrored the highest ideals of patriotism and integrity,” Alabi stated.

“He was a man who led by example, served without blemish, and mentored countless Nigerians who today occupy strategic positions across sectors.”

The IPUNEC Chairman added that Dr. Kolade’s lifelong advocacy for values-based leadership and ethical governance would continue to serve as a guiding light for Nigeria’s development path.

While commiserating with the Kolade family, the government, and the people of Osun State, Dr. Alabi prayed for God to grant the late diplomat eternal rest and comfort to his loved ones.

“Nigeria has lost one of its finest. May the Almighty reward him for a lifetime of service to God and humanity,” he added.
