Kwara: Armed Bandits Repelled in Babanla Community, Authorities Maintain Tight Control

Residents of Babanla community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State faced a tense situation on Friday after armed criminals launched an attack on a local police station, several grocery shops, and a hotel.
The criminals’ attempt to loot these establishments was swiftly countered by security forces and vigilant community members, according to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.
The government praised the Nigerian Army, police officers, and courageous locals who united to repel the assault.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has been in continuous contact with security agencies and local vigilantes, ordered a strict security lockdown to neutralize the threat and protect citizens.
Speaking on the situation, the governor said, “We are working closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser to rid the area of these criminals. The safety of the people remains our top priority.”
He urged residents to remain calm and support the ongoing security operations.
Authorities assured that further updates will be provided as the efforts to restore peace in Babanla continue.
