ECWA decries spate of insecurity, urges Christians to pray for Nigeria, leaders

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has condemned the spate of insecurity in the country just as it encouraged Christians not to lose hope, rather to be on the watchtower praying for the Nation, leaders and for God’s intervention.

Rising from its eighteenth meeting of ECWA Fate-Tanke District Church Council (ECWA F/T DCC) on Friday morning, the body abhors the spate of insecurity such as banditry, kidnapping for ransom, incessant killings by unknown gunmen and other ills being perpetrated by miscreants against the people and Government, preventing farmers’ access to their farmlands, ruining our economy and resulting to instability in all fronts and encouraged Christians not to lose hope, rather to be on the watchtower praying for the nation day and night for God’s intervention.

In a Communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by its Chairman, Reverend Dr. Samuel Olanrewaju Olayioye and Secretary, Rev’d Dr. Joseph Olabanji Agboluaje, the Council stressed the need for the spiritual leaders to be committed to an unwavering integrity oweing to fact that they are entrusted with a sacred responsibility of guiding God’s people and having in mind that they are accountable not only to God but also to the flock of God under their care.

The meeting attended by forty (40) members across board had robust discussions on issues bothering on the physical and spiritual growth of the LCs, LCCs and the DCC, and reminded members that loyalty to ECWA doctrine is crucial for the collective identity, unity and effectiveness and were urged to uphold, defend, and jointly preserve it heritage.

After dissolving the various Committees, it counseled the newly installed standing committee members of the DCC to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties knowing fully well that their work is unto the Lord and having the assurances of His reward for faithful service.

“The new standing committees installed are as follow: Mission/Evangelism, Prayer/Revival, Monitoring, Discipleship, Convention, Education/Publication, Career and Empowerment, Project, Investment, Finance/Budget Conference, Children, Estate Management, Security, Media/Publicity, and Strategic Plan Implementation”.

The Council gave glory to God for the tremendous progress in the collection of contributions for the Save A Soul initiative, thus promoting the Gospel of Christ urging Churches and members who are yet to join to do so in earnest.

It urged Ministers of God to key into the digital world noting that the world is now going paperless and Pastors and other Church leaders must go digital in reaching the world with the message of Jesus Christ by making use of social media responsibly, promoting positivity with edifying content so as to avoid being lag behind.

The Council noted that the Church ministry should transcend teaching and preaching to integrating body, soul, and spirit for personal and societal transformation through Jesus noting as well that no effort is to small in this regard.

It explained that the 10th year historic anniversary will be holding next year (2025) with the theme “Rejoice, Renew and Reconnect” from”Isaiah 40:31 with Rev’d Ayuba Asheshe (ECWA Secretary) as the Guest Speaker and Guest Lecturer Rev’d Dr B.M Owojaiye.

“The ten (10) hours marathon meeting ended on a good note to the glory of God. Council was well attended and it resolved vital issues that could act as clog in the wheel of progress of members, but work hard to move it forward.
Members were specifically urged to focus on the welfare of Church members in a way to cushion the effect of the economic hardship on them. Council rose with the consensus that members should brief the congregation and solicit compliance with all the instructions that emanated from the marathon meeting”.

” The meeting was kick-started with prayer by the DCC Vice Chairman; Rev’d A.B Samuel and spiritually refreshing ECWA Anthem followed. Exhortation was delivered by Rev. Paul Bulus Gajere, L.O. Bacita LCC from the book of Hebrews 10:37-39, and with the Theme: “He is Coming Soon” . In his message, he reassured members of the imminent coming of Christ and as we await His coming as Stakeholders of Fate Tanke DCC, three major things are crucial namely: believing in Him and trusting in His word, standing firm, and to be righteous. Thereafter, he closed his message with prayer for members”.
