NSCDC Nabs Three for Criminal Offences in Kwara State
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested three individuals over their alleged involvement in various criminal activities such as theft, burglary, and fraud.
This information is contained in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, ASC 1 Ayoola Michael Shola, and was made available to journalists in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The statement highlighted that on Monday, July 1, 2024, detectives from the command’s tracking unit arrested 31-year-old Ibrahim Wasiu, a resident of Eyenkorin, Kwara State.
This arrest followed a report by Mr. Mumini Kabir regarding multiple burglaries at his home, where valuable items including a motorcycle, two Android phones, a home theater system, and other household goods were stolen.
Following thorough investigations, the suspect was apprehended and all the stolen items were recovered.
In another incident, on June 30, 2024, the command’s tracking unit, acting on a tip-off, apprehended Soliu Jimoh, a 33-year-old male, for repeatedly stealing electrical cables and fittings from buildings under construction in the Gaa Ajanaki area of Ilorin. During his arrest, wires and tools used in his operations were found on him.
Additionally, on June 28, 2024, 38-year-old Ganiyu Yusuf Olalekan was arrested for defrauding Mr. Ibrahim Mustapha of 4.5 million naira.
The suspect, falsely claiming to be a senior staff member of the Ministry of Finance and a politician, deceived Mr. Mustapha by promising him three Hajj slots in exchange for the payment.
Investigations revealed that Olalekan is a scammer who exploits unsuspecting members of the public for financial gain.
All the suspects have confessed to their crimes and will face prosecution in a court of competent jurisdiction once the investigations are completed.
The NSCDC Kwara State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, assured the public that the corps will continue its efforts to combat criminal activities in the state.
He warned criminals to leave Kwara State, emphasizing the corps’ commitment to creating a safe environment for law-abiding citizens and making the state inhospitable for criminals.
