Resign or be disgraced out of office’, Diaspora group tells Yakubu, Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio

The crushing hardship faced by Nigerians may have put serious pressures on some Nigerians in the diaspora as a group, the United. Nigerians in the Diaspora (UND) have cast their guess on who may have played what role in the suffering of their countrymen.

Consequently, the group has asked Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of Nigeria Senate and Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) to resign or be disgraced out of office.

While UND, through its leadership is blaming Yakubu for superintending over what they termed a “shambolic election”, they also insisted that Akpabio should step aside as leader of the Senate over the raging allegation of Budget padding, amounting to N3 trillion.

Ambassador Yusuf Adeyinka in a statement vowed that the group will soon embark on massive street protest to some Nigerian embassies in Washington DC and other US cities, London and other major cities in Europe and Asia nations, to drive home their point.

According to the diaspora group the INEC chairman should resign over what they described as “The conduct of a shambolic 2023 general elections” while Senate President Akpabio should step aside over the allegation of budget padding raised against him by some Senators.

UND’s Ambassador Adeyinka, and the group’s general secretary worldwide, Comrade Johnson Acheme, said Nigerians cannot continue to bear the brunt of the maladministration of insensitive politicians, and have resolved to call them out via massive protests, and solicited co-operation of the International Community during the period of the action.

They particularly urged world’s leading democracies like Great Britain, United States and other nations of the world to bar the INEC National Chairman and his team members, Senate President Akpabio and indeed, the top echelon of the Nigerian Judiciary from entering their countries.

The diaspora group also commended Senator Ningi for his courage to expose budget padding in the National Assembly. (Daily Independent)
