We lost a great man in Chief Rex Olawoye: Kwara Gov

Chief Rex Olawoye

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has bemoaned the death of All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart Chief Rex Olawoye, describing him as a patriot and a pillar of the struggle that enthroned the Otoge administration in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by Rafiu Ajakaye Chief Press Secretary to the governor and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday.

“Baba Rex Olawoye was a delight to be with, a soft-spoken gentleman and orator, a lover of younger generation, a dogged fighter, and certainly a statesman who played a pivotal role in the political development of the state over the past few decades.

“We will miss his clarity of thought, his brilliance, and his constructive advice on governance. His words of wisdom even on his sickbed when I last spoke with him were quite reassuring as we were earnestly expectant of his recovery.

“My profound commiserations go to his family, his generation of wise Kwara Elders and the APC family in Kwara State.

“May God comfort the family he left behind and grant him repose,” the governor said.
