Osun Assembly Passes 2023 Budget Estimate of N138bn, Warns Troublemakers

The State of Osun House of Assembly has passed year 2023 appropriation bill into law.

The year 2023 budget was passed on Wednesday during the plenary of the House of Assembly Osogbo.

The year 2023 budget was read for the third time by the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation Hon. Taiwo Adebayo Olodo.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye described the annual budget as important and essential for any institution in the country.

He noted that the budget of Consolidation gulf up with N2,000,000,000.00 due to the take off grant for University of Ilesa.

According to him, as the state is going, we can go on 2023 budget proposal.

“Any time from now the governor Gboyega Oyetola may put his assent to 2023 budget” he added.

The year 2023 budget was analysed as Personnel expenditure N45, 450, 653,060 billion, Recurrent expenditure N53, 750,885,390 billion while Capital expenditure is N39, 059,444,710 billion and total size of the budget put at 138,205,,988,140 respectively.

In another development, the Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye has appealed to all the political party in the state who have intend to cause trouble to desist from doing so.

He warned that the trouble makers would not go unpunished.

He said, “If the trouble makers do otherwise, they will face the wrath of law”.

According to the Speaker, People of Ikirun and Ifelodun in particular should let peace reign especially on Obaship issue”.

“They should approach the court of law not to cause trouble in the state” he added.

However, the Speaker also frown on what may be hinder the completion of Ilesa water project since last five years.

He urged the contractor to do the needful on the treatment plants of the water project.

He also summoned the contractors and consultant Mrs Tawakalitu Williams who handling Ilesa water project to appear before the lawmakers on 29/11/2022 to come and explain more on mentioned project.

In similar view, the Speaker of the Parliament received a letter from Mr Gboyega Oyetola seeking the approval of judiciary service commission members.

The House of Assembly has directed the governor nominee for the members of judiciary service commission to appear for screening exercise before the House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary and Public Petition tomorrow 24/11/2022 respectively.

The governor nominees included Mikail Makinde, Mr. Salman Adebayo and Barrister Femi Akande respectively.
