Investor Confidence Rises as Dangote Refinery Targets $36 Billion Revenue in 2026

Investor confidence in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO continues to strengthen following projections that Dangote Group is on course to generate approximately $36 billion in revenue in 2026, driven by robust performance across its diversified industrial businesses and ambitious expansion plans across Africa.
The positive market sentiment has been fueled by disclosures from Dangote Group’s Chief Strategy Officer, Aliyu Suleiman, who revealed that the Group generated approximately $17 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026 and is on track to achieve a record $36 billion in revenue by year-end, representing a 100 percent increase over the $18 billion recorded in 2025.
The outlook has attracted strong interest from investors who see the Dangote Petroleum Refinery as a unique opportunity to participate in one of Africa’s most transformative industrial enterprises.
Speaking after subscribing to the refinery’s IPO, a Lagos-based institutional investor, Mr. Tunde Adebayo, described the investment as a long-term wealth creation opportunity.
“The projected growth trajectory of the Dangote Group and the refinery’s strategic position in the global energy market gave us strong confidence to invest. The forecast revenue of $36 billion demonstrates the scale of the business and the value creation potential available to shareholders.”
Similarly, Mrs. Amina Bello, a private investor from Abuja, said the refinery represents a rare opportunity to invest in a world-class African enterprise.
“What attracted me is the refinery’s ability to serve both the Nigerian market and export destinations across Africa and beyond. Few businesses on the continent have this level of infrastructure, market reach, and growth prospects. I believe this investment will generate substantial long-term returns.”
For Dr. Samuel Okonkwo, an investment manager and shareholder in Dangote Cement, the refinery’s expansion plans further strengthened his decision to invest.
“The proposed expansion of the refinery’s processing capacity to approximately 1.4 million barrels per day and the planned East African refinery project signal management’s commitment to sustainable growth. These are the kinds of projects that create enduring shareholder value.”
Investor confidence has also been reinforced by Dangote Group’s Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to build globally competitive businesses while accelerating industrial development across Africa.
According to Suleiman, the Group executed approximately $50 billion in capital expenditure between 2020 and 2025 and intends to invest nearly twice that amount over the next five years.
A key component of that growth strategy is the proposed 700,000 barrels-per-day refinery and petrochemical complex in Lamu, Kenya, estimated at approximately $17 billion.
The Group has already signed a contract worth more than $450 million with Engineers India Limited (EIL) for project management consultancy and engineering services.
The East African refinery is expected to become a major contributor to Dangote Group’s long-term ambition of building a $100 billion African industrial enterprise while enhancing regional energy security and industrial development.
Commenting on the rising investor interest, the Vice President, Oil & Gas, Dangote Industries Limited, Edwin Devakumar, said the market’s response reflects growing recognition of the refinery’s operational strength and future prospects.
“The enthusiasm being shown by investors is a reflection of confidence in the refinery’s strong fundamentals, operational efficiency, and long-term growth prospects. The projected revenue outlook demonstrates the scale of value creation that the refinery is expected to deliver to shareholders, customers, and the wider African economy.”
Devakumar noted that the refinery’s integrated infrastructure, strategic location, and ability to produce petroleum products to international standards position it for sustained profitability and long-term growth.
The $20 billion Dangote Petroleum Refinery, the world’s largest single-train refinery, continues to increase production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), diesel, aviation fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and other refined petroleum products, supporting domestic supply while serving regional and international markets.
Industry analysts believe the combination of strong earnings projections, continued expansion, and rising demand for refined petroleum products has positioned the refinery as one of Africa’s most attractive investment opportunities.
As subscriptions continue to gain momentum, investors remain optimistic that Dangote Petroleum Refinery will not only generate significant shareholder returns but also play a pivotal role in transforming Africa’s energy landscape and industrial future.
