Emir of Ilorin congratulates Prof. Alabi on his appointment as VC, Armed Forces Medical University

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has extended warm congratulations to an illustrious son of Ilorin, Professor Biodun Sulyman Alabi, on his well-deserved appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of the Armed Forces Medical University.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a statement issued by his Spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, described Prof. Alabi’s elevation as a testament to hard work, excellence, and dedication to service.
The Emir noted that the new Vice-Chancellor has consistently distinguished himself in the field of medical education and administration.
He added that the don’s track record as Provost of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, where he provided visionary leadership that advanced teaching, research, and clinical training; as Chairman of the Association of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria, APCOM; and as Chairman of the Ministerial Monitoring Committee on the TETFund High Impact Intervention Project for the Rehabilitation of Medical Schools in Nigeria, among other responsibilities, has distinguished and prepared him for greater responsibilities ahead.
The Emir emphasized that the appointment is not only a proud moment for the Ilorin Emirate but also for Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole, given Prof. Alabi’s record in strengthening medical institutions and expanding access to quality health education.
The monarch prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Prof. Alabi wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he assumes leadership of the Armed Forces Medical University, and expressed confidence that he will take the institution to greater heights in training medical professionals for the nation’s Armed Forces and the country at large.
