Onigbesi of Igbesi, Oba Oyinloye regains freedom after nine days in captivity

His Royal Majesty, Oba Moses Omotayo Oyinloye, Onigbesi of Igbesi Land, who was abducted on 22nd August, 2026 has regained freedom.
Oba Oyinloye was abducted on August 22, 2026, when armed bandits invaded Igbesi community and whisked him away.
While initial reports suggested that some residents were also abducted during the attack, the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, had clarified that the monarch was the only person taken away by the assailants.
Sources in the community told newsmen on Wednesday that the monarch was rescued alongside two other victims following a coordinated operation by police operatives attached to the Oro Division and members of a local vigilance group.
Confirming the development, Adekimi said police personnel operating in the Kwara South axis successfully located and rescued the monarch from the kidnappers’ hideout.
The police commissioner disclosed that Oba Oyinloye was subsequently taken to a hospital in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
“Yes, the Onigbesi has been rescued by the policemen from the kidnappers’ hideout. He’s receiving treatment at a hospital in Oro. This is all I can tell you for now,” Adekimi said.
The rescue has brought relief to residents of Igbesi and surrounding communities, who had been anxious about the monarch’s safety since his abduction five days ago.
The release was as a result of efforts of the Nigerian Army, other security architecture operating within the local government, the Forest Guards, and the Local Vigilante Groups.
