Kwara Assembly Passes 23 Bills, 88 Motions in 3 Years – Speaker
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Engineer Yakubu Salihu Danladi, says the Tenth Assembly has passed twenty-three bills and eighty-eight motions within the last three years as part of efforts to strengthen democratic governance and promote development across the state.
Engineer Danladi disclosed this during a special plenary session held to commemorate the third anniversary of the Tenth Assembly in Ilorin.
The Speaker explained that the bills passed by the House are not limited to executive bills, but also include private member bills initiated by lawmakers.
He added that even in the consideration of executive bills, members of the House played active roles through robust debates and deliberations on the general principles of the bills before their passage.
Engineer Danladi said the eighty-eight motions raised by lawmakers cover Matters of General Public Importance, reflecting the concerns and needs of their respective constituencies.
He noted that resolutions of the House forwarded to the executive arm of government have contributed to various developmental projects and infrastructure achievements recorded across the state.
The Speaker expressed confidence in the capacity of members of the Assembly to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, assuring that the House remains committed to impactful representation.
He said the Assembly is determined to change the narrative through quality legislation and effective representation.
Engineer Danladi appreciated his colleagues for their trust and support in his leadership, saying the unity among members has promoted harmonious legislative activities and created a peaceful environment for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration.
He also commended the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara State, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, for his support and fatherly role, while appreciating religious leaders for their prayers and contributions to the progress of the state.
Earlier, some lawmakers took turns to highlight their achievements, projects, and interventions in their various constituencies within the three years of the Tenth Assembly.
