AOT Felicitates Muslims on Hijrah 1448, Urges Moral Rebirth, Vigilance, Rejection of Social Vices

Governorship aspirant and public affairs advocate, Dr. Alabi Oluwatoyin Tajudeen (AOT), has felicitated with Muslims in Kwara State, across Nigeria, and around the world on the occasion of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448 AH, calling for moral rebirth, heightened security consciousness, and a collective commitment to shun social vices that threaten peace and development.
In his Hijrah message, Dr. Alabi described the beginning of the new Islamic year as a sacred opportunity for reflection, spiritual renewal, and renewed commitment to the values of righteousness, discipline, sacrifice, and obedience to Almighty Allah.
According to him, the historic migration of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Makkah to Madinah remains a timeless lesson in courage, faith, perseverance, strategic planning, and purposeful leadership, qualities he said are urgently needed in contemporary society.
AOT noted that Hijrah represents far more than a physical journey, describing it as a conscious transition from wrongdoing to righteousness, from moral decadence to integrity, and from despair to renewed hope and purpose.
“Hijrah teaches us the importance of transformation. As Muslims, we must migrate from actions that harm our society to deeds that promote peace, justice, and communal progress.
This is the true spirit of Hijrah,” he said.
Dr. Alabi expressed concern over the growing prevalence of social vices among young people, including drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime, violence, and other forms of moral decline, warning that such trends pose significant threats to families, communities, and the nation’s future.
He called on parents, religious leaders, traditional rulers, educators, and other stakeholders to intensify efforts toward moral guidance, youth mentorship, and value reorientation.
“We must collectively reject every form of social vice that erodes our moral fabric. Our young people must understand that lasting success is built on character, discipline, hard work, and integrity, not on shortcuts or criminality,” he added.
Addressing security concerns, AOT stressed the need for greater vigilance and stronger community collaboration in combating insecurity and criminality. He urged citizens to remain alert, support law enforcement agencies with credible information, and refrain from actions that could aid criminal elements.
According to him, ensuring public safety should not be the sole responsibility of government agencies but a shared civic duty.
“A safe society requires collective vigilance. We must be observant, proactive, and willing to support security agencies in protecting our communities. Peace and development can only flourish in an atmosphere of safety,” he said.
Dr. Alabi also appealed for greater unity among Nigerians, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences, stressing that sustainable national development depends on mutual respect, tolerance, and a shared commitment to peace.
As Muslims commemorate Hijrah 1448 AH, he encouraged them to pray for Kwara State and Nigeria, seeking divine intervention in addressing insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, and other pressing national challenges.
He further prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and prosperous Islamic year filled with mercy, divine protection, progress, and abundant blessings.
“As we begin Hijrah 1448, I pray that Allah forgives our shortcomings, strengthens our faith, protects our communities, and grants us peace, security, and prosperity.
May this new year usher in moral renewal, unity, and renewed hope for our beloved state and nation,” Dr Alabi added.
