AOT Congratulates Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on Appointment as Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate

Dr. Oluwatoyin Tajudeen Alabi (AOT), a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and governorship aspirant, has congratulated Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani on his appointment as the new Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate by the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.
In a statement issued on the occasion, Dr. Alabi described the appointment as a significant milestone in the religious and spiritual history of the Ilorin Emirate, noting that it reflects the confidence of the Emirate Council and the Muslim Ummah in the scholarship, character, piety, and leadership qualities of the new Chief Imam.
According to AOT, the emergence of Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki after a rigorous and highly respected selection process demonstrates the enduring commitment of the Ilorin Emirate to preserving the integrity, dignity, and spiritual heritage of the revered office.
The prominent community leader stated that the new Chief Imam has over the years distinguished himself as an accomplished Islamic scholar, teacher, preacher, and community leader whose contributions to the propagation of Islam have earned him widespread respect within and beyond Kwara State.
“His appointment is a recognition of years of dedicated service to Islam, unwavering commitment to religious scholarship, and exemplary leadership within the Muslim community. It is a well-deserved elevation that has been received with joy by countless admirers, scholars, and faithful across the Emirate and beyond,” AOT said.
Dr. Alabi further commended the Emir of Ilorin for what he described as another demonstration of wisdom, foresight, and commitment to the preservation of the Emirate’s rich Islamic tradition.
He noted that the leadership of the Ilorin Emirate has continued to play a vital role in promoting religious harmony, moral values, peaceful coexistence, and spiritual development among the people.
Quoting the Holy Qur’an, AOT said the appointment reflects the divine principle that leadership and authority ultimately come from Allah.
“………….O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honour whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is all good.
“Indeed, You are over all things competent.’ (Qur’an 3:26). This appointment is a reminder that positions of leadership are trusts granted by Allah, and I believe Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki has been prepared for this sacred responsibility,” he stated.
AOT expressed optimism that the new Chief Imam’s tenure would further strengthen Islamic teachings, deepen religious understanding, promote unity among Muslims, and contribute positively to the continued peace and development of Ilorin Emirate.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grants the new Chief Imam abundant wisdom, sound health, patience, strength, and divine guidance as he assumes the important responsibility of providing spiritual leadership to the Muslim faithful.
“May Allah bless his tenure with success and impact. May He make him an instrument of unity, peace, and progress for the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and the entire Muslim Ummah. May his leadership advance the cause of Islam and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among our people,” Dr. Alabi prayed.
