New NSCDC Kwara Commandant Assumes Duty, Vows Tougher Fight Against Criminals in State

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has announced the official assumption of duty of Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed as the 16th substantive Commandant of the Command.
In a statement issued in Ilorin by ASC 1 Ayoola Michael Shola, the Command Public Relations Officer, the development follows the redeployment of the former State Commandant, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, fcism, FiCGPA, to the National Headquarters of the Corps.
The statement noted that Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed resumed office on Monday, April 13, 2026, bringing with him over two decades of operational and administrative experience within the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
His extensive career includes previous roles such as Head of Operations in Kwara State Command, Head of Anti-Vandal Unit in Niger State Command, Area Commander in Kainji LGA, Divisional Officer in Edati LGA, Head of Counter-Terrorism Unit in Zamfara State Command, as well as several strategic positions in the FCT Command and Zone 4 Headquarters, Minna, where he last served as Commandant.
Speaking shortly after taking over leadership of the Command in Kwara State, Abbas reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening security operations, protecting lives and property, and safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure across the state.
He also pledged a more intelligence-driven and proactive approach to tackling insecurity, warning criminal elements to stay away from the state.
“Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property,” he declared.
The new Commandant further emphasized the importance of collaboration with sister security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders in sustaining peace and stability across communities.
He urged residents of the state to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information that could aid operational success.
The Command assured that under the new leadership, it would intensify surveillance and enforcement actions to curb vandalism, economic sabotage, and other criminal activities across the state capital, Ilorin, and other parts of Kwara State.
