Nigeria University names Senate building after former VC

 

The Management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has named the Senate Building after one of its former Vice Chancellors, late Professor Buba Bajoga in a move to immortalize him and as a mark of honour to his memories.

In his remarks at the ceremony, the current Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, described the late Vice Chancellor as the architect of the institution’s formative years.

According to him, with unwavering vision, firmness and unyielding dedication, Bajoga transformed a nascent University into a beacon of excellence in Bauchi and beyond, resulting in producing scholars that shone in their chosen careers.

“Under his stewardship, ATBU flourished through innovative curriculum development, strategic infrastructure growth, and a commitment to nurturing talents that would proudly shape Nigeria’s future.”

“He embodied the pioneering spirit of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa himself, resolute, inclusive, and forward-thinking, laying foundations that we, his successors, continue to build upon with pride and passion,” he said.

He further explained that Buba Bajoga’s brilliant foundation laying for the University has earned him immortality.

The late VC was a Managing Director of the defunct Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) who spearheaded reforms that connected millions, bridging the digital divide and propelling Nigeria towards a
modern communications era.
