Omo Ibile Igbomina Condemns Omugo Attack

 

……‎Calls for Swift Justice and Strengthened Security Measures.

The National President of Omo Ibile Ig bomina, Sir Bisi Fakayode, has expressed deep sadness and grave concern over the shocking attack by bandits on worshippers at ECWA Church, Omugo, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, in the early hours of Sunday, 22nd March 2026, during a church service.

Sir Fakayode described the incident as a barbaric and cowardly act, noting that the attack came as a rude shock, particularly as it occurred within a sacred place of worship. He lamented that such acts pose a serious threat to the peace, unity, and security of communities across the state and must be confronted with utmost urgency.

While acknowledging the swift intervention of the joint task force comprising security agencies, forest guards, and local vigilantes which led to the rescue of three victims, the President urged the State Government, in collaboration with Local Government authorities and other relevant stakeholders, to intensify efforts to completely eradicate this menace across affected communities.

He emphasized the need for a coordinated and sustained security strategy to decisively combat criminal elements and restore public confidence.

The President further called on security operatives to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining abducted victims and to urgently track down and bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.

He stressed that failure to hold such criminals accountable could embolden further acts of violence and erode public trust in security institutions.

Sir Fakayode also extended his heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the loss that might occured in the course of this incident and trauma caused by this unfortunate incident, while wishing those rescued a speedy recovery.

He reiterated the commitment of Omo Ibile Igbomina to supporting all lawful efforts aimed at protecting lives and property and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information to aid ongoing operations.
