Kwara Police Debunks False Report on Alleged Kidnap, Murder of Female Officer
The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging the kidnap and murder of a female police officer serving in the state, describing the story as false and aimed at creating unnecessary panic among residents.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said there was no record of any female police officer missing or abducted in any division across the state.
“The report is not only false but also misleading, and it appears to be a deliberate attempt to cause panic in Kwara State.
“We urge members of the public to disregard such misinformation,” the statement read.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi further clarified that there is no police division named “Ogidi” in Kwara State, contrary to the claims in the viral social media post.
“The spread of such fake news is harmful, not only to the reputation of the Nigeria Police Force but also to the peace-loving people of Kwara State,” she said.
The command assured residents that it continues to work closely with other security agencies to protect lives and property, prevent crime, and maintain public order.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, psc, mnips, remains committed to transparency and to keeping the public properly informed. We appeal to citizens and media outlets to always verify information before sharing it online,” Ejire-Adeyemi added.
The statement urged the public to rely only on verified updates through the Command’s official social media handles on X (@kwara_ppro), Facebook (Kwara State Police Command), and its WhatsApp channel.
