Kwara Govt Hands Over N242m ICT Project Site to Contractor in Shonga

 

The Kwara State Government has officially handed over the Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) project site in Shonga, Edu Local Government Area, to Skylat-One Nigeria Ltd.

The project, estimated at ₦242 million, was approved by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq following a request from the Shonga community for an ICT centre.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing socio-economic infrastructure that drives technological advancement in the state.

“This ultra-modern ICT project is a testament to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s determination to promote economic growth and development in Kwara State.

It is expected to significantly impact the local economy and create job opportunities for the people of Shonga and its environs,” she stated.

Hon. Adelodun also charged the contractor to deliver quality work that reflects the value of the funds invested, emphasizing the government’s dedication to enhancing the ease of doing business in the state.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Mary Kemi Adeoshun, lauded the initiative and urged the contractor to ensure efficient use of resources and timely completion of the project.

The Emir of Shonga, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Haliru Ndanusa Yahaya, expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for fulfilling the community’s longstanding request.

“This project will enhance the educational system, economic growth, and social development of our community. We are grateful for this significant intervention,” the Emir said.

The Emir also noted that the community has been advocating for skills in computer literacy and digital economy to meet current socio-economic realities.

In his remarks, the contractor, Adegboyega Akinwumi of Skylat-One Nigeria Ltd., assured the government and community of delivering a quality job.

Dignitaries at the event included Mr. Tunde Thompson Amos, Director of Personnel, Finance, and Supply; Project Manager, Mr. Rafiu Bayo Adeniran; Desk Officer, Nurudeen Agunbiade; and Mallam Adam Jibril, President of Shonga Community, among others.
