Kwara Fire Service averts major disaster in gas tanker accident

Kwara Fire Service on Friday averted a major disaster at the Unity round about in Ilorin as a tanker head got detached from its body while on motion.

The development eventually led to the profuse leakage of the gas tank and gridlock on Unity Road.

According to an eyewitness, the accident happened so fast and he could not ascertained the actual cause of the accident.

The Kwara State Fire Service were summoned by one Mr. Emmanuel and Firemen were there throughout the incident in order to prevent fire outbreak until the whole siphoning process was done.

Speaking on the development, the Director, State Fire Service, Prince John Falade urged tanker drivers to be extra careful on the roads, especially anytime they were transporting highly flammable substance.

He appealed to members of the public to always call the Service in case of emergency.
