Group Sensitises 150 Chief Imams in Kwara to Policy of Preaching

The Hijrah Organisation of Nigeria, National Headquarters in Ilorin has embarked on sensitisation of about 150 Chief Imams across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state on the policy of preaching.
The sensitization took place at the 2nd Workshop For Chief Imams in Offa Center for Arabic and Islamic Studies, Offa Local Government Area.
Dr Yusuf Jimoh, a former Lecturer at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, who spoke at the occasion, explained that Islamic preaching is a common means of religious promulgation and knowledge transfer.
He stated that Imams are saddled with the responsibility of pastoral guidance and communication between believers, and as a source of negotiating religious normativity, power relations, and societal topics.
He charged the Islamic clerics to be actively involved in educational endeavours, imparting religious knowledge and promoting a deeper understanding of Islam.
Jimoh commended Imams, who engaged in charitable activities, working to address social issues and uplifting the less fortunate.
The don underscored the responsibilities of Chief Imams in guiding and setting examples for their congregations.
Speaking earlier, Prof. Badmas Yusuf
the Chairman, of the Hijrah Islamic Organization, reminded the clerics that their primary responsibility is to lead the Muslim congratulations in prayer.
“You are mandated by Islam to promote what is good and forbid what is evil. You are Shephard to the Muslim Ummah and you must ensure that there is no segregation among the ummah,” he said.
Yusuf charged them to discharge their duties and responsibilities diligently with the fear of Allah and service to humanity, to attain salvation on the day of judgement.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that over 150 Chief Imams and clerics from various mosques and organizations attended the workshop.
The platform provided an avenue for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and fostering a sense of communal responsibility. (NAN)
