Chairman, Reverend Samuel Olayioye and Secretary, Reverend Joseph Agboluaje
The Federal Government has again been advised to employ modern technologies to flush out the miscreants in the Country.
The ECWA Fate-Tanke District Church Council advised a Communique issued at the end of its sixteenth meeting held in Ilorin.
Similarly, ECWA also urged the government to employ effective strategies to minimize the effect of the harsh economic conditions on the people, since security and welfare are the core responsibilities of the Government to the governed.
The Communique signed by its Chairman, Reverend Samuel Olayioye and Secretary, Reverend Joseph Agboluaje condemned the spate of kidnapping for ransom, banditry, cattle rustling and other evils being perpetrated, that are on the increase.
While appreciating the efforts of the Government, and it believes each level should do more, they called on the Government at all levels to intervene decisively to bring these menace under check.
The meeting was attended by forty (40) members across the board including ECWA Trustee, Pastor Engr. James Yinka Ashonibare, all the Council Executive Members, Ex-Officio members and the representatives of all the Eleven (11) Local Church Councils (LCCs)
expressed grave concern about the grim/harsh economic realities Nigerians are subjected to.
“Members noted that it is not yet Uhuru, for the utopian of our collective dream on the economic and security situation is yet to be achieved. Instead, the situation is getting worse by day to the detriment of the people” it emphasized.
It enjoined Pastors “to start preparations for effective teaching on the theme in the coming year (2024) “FOR THE VISION IS YET FOR AN APPOINTED TIME” (HABAKKUK 2:3) . Besides, the District Church Council Executive should make required consultation to ensure uniformity in the inscription of the theme in all Local Churches across the globe”.
Council was highly pleased with the success of the elections in all the structures of ECWA at LC & LCC levels of F/TDCC, which were conducted according to ECWA books, making the DCC a pacesetter and a shining example, but agreed to explore all the grey areas/lacunas to improve on this positive showing in similar exercises in the future.
Members acknowledged the good works on ECWA Strategic Long-Range Plan 2023-2030 (7 Years) crafted by the General Church Council, Jos. They also appreciated the work of the committee that worked on it in the DCC and the cheering news that the inputs of the DCC have been forwarded to the GCC, believing that it will receive favourable action to enrich the document for the progress of the operations of ECWA International.
Members embraced the timing of the ECWA DCC conference scheduled for between November 16 and 19, 2023 at Shao urging them to pray and attend.
The council encouraged LCs and LCCs to employ E-Collections and diversify on investments that can yield high returns to the Church instead of sole dependence on tithes and offerings that are always incapable of yielding sufficient returns for Church management.
The council was also pleased with the impending emergence of Nupe Local Church from ECWA Fate/Tanke and advised that the Church be inaugurated early to enable members to worship God in their language for a more pleasing time with and in God’s presence.
It resolved that conducting a population census for the DCC is long overdue. It therefore agreed to set up a committee to work out the nitty-gritty on the way forward for the conduct of the population census in January 2024.
In his Exhortation, Reverend Abraham Samuel who spoke on the Theme: “What is Your Food?”, charged members to, despite economic challenges bedevilling the Nation, make the will of God and the work of God paramount in all their activities.
He urged members not to abandon their commitment to the service of God.
On his part, ECWA Trustee, Pastor Ashonibare congratulated members of the Executive of the Council just elected, sympathized with the Council on the second fall of the pavilion at Shao campground and prayed that God would take absolute control of the project.
He urged Pastors across the board and particularly those in the countryside to be faithful and committed to their call and imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and dedication to move further forward in the work of God.
