Offa Metropolitan Club signs MoU with Clina-Lancet Lab on medical centre

The Offa Metropolitan Club (OMC) has entered into a Service Level Agreement with Clina-Lancet Laboratories Ltd for the operation of OMC Medical Centre, Offa, towards addressing some of the daunting healthcare challenges facing the country.

Speaking during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding at the Medical Centre, Offa, Kwara State, the President of the Club, Dr. (Mrs) Serah Alade said that OMC Medical Centre is a model facility with readiness for clinical consultation, surgery, reference laboratory and diagnostic practice.

Alade noted that Clina-Lancet Laboratories is expected to bring its expertise and resources in the acquisition, installation, commissioning, operation, and management of the laboratory infrastructure and equipment at the medical centre.

“On the basis of the signed Service Level Agreement, Clina-Lancet Laboratories shall commence operation and service on August 2023. In executing the agreement, Clina-Lancent Laboratories shall work to meet our expectations for a reference laboratory and diagnostic practice.

“We look forward to working with Clina-Lancent Laboratories in achieving our mission to have OMC Medical Centre established as a designated healthcare space that cares for immediate and emerging health needs.

“By the end of 2023, OMC shall work to identify and sign agreements with
complimentary service providers to complete the scope of services required for OMC Medical Center to fulfil its aspiration for clinical consultation and surgery”, she added.

Responding, the MD/CEO of Clina-Lancet Laboratories Dr. Olayemi Dawodu said that one of the missions of Clina-Lancet Laboratories is to collaborate and partner with like-minded organisations either private or public in providing best medical diagnostic solutions at world-class standards.

Dawodu, who was delighted to partner with OMC said that she was impressed that a private entity can put up such a structure with topnotch facility to provide services not just to offa people but to all its environs.

She stressed that Clina Lancet Laboratories is an ultramodern technologically advanced and independent pathology laboratory that provides medical laboratory, consultative, and referral services, with the most extensive range of tests, including but not limited to routine, specialized and advanced tests for clinical, research, screening, industrial, environmental and occupational health.

Dawodu said further that OMC medical centre is capable of offering highest standards of pathology and biomedical services to patients with the facilities and equipment at the centre.

Also, the Executive Secretary of Kwara State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik said that the edifice is going to augment what the state government already has on ground.

Malik said further that instead of patients traveling so far to get some diagnosis that is not available at General Hospital in Offa, the facility is going to provide that option.

“Government cannot provide everything, this is a community service and we really appreciate OMC. We look forward for an interface with Kwara State Hospital Management Board to see how we can collaborate with other services we have in General Hospital, Offa.

“This is a challenge to all, we should start looking to something like this and find a way where other clubs can partner with government to have something similar”, he said

The Chief Medical Director (CMD), General Hospital, Offa, Abdulsalam Olabisi appreciated the OMC for putting in place the facility which he said will showcase the Offa community to tghe world.

He, then, congratulated members of OMC and the entire Offa community for the laudable project, even as he assured Clina-Lancet Laboratories of his total support.
