Kwara: SDP Rep. Candidate, Saed Popoola Seeks Entrenchment of Quality Legislation

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) House of Representatives Candidate for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun federal Constituency of Kwara state, Mr Saed Popoola has called for the entrenchment of quality legislation in the nation’s Democratic system to make the country better.

Popoola made the call while speaking at the 36th Nigeria Union of Journalists,Kwara state Council,Media Parliament “themed”with Quality Representation ,Social Re-engineering is Possible” held in Ilorin.

According to him absence of legislation will make a democratic system autocratic.

Mr Popoola noted that the major impediment that draws the nation backward is the absence of quality legislation.

He explained that the powers of the executives should be reduced to enable other sectors function optimally.

Mr Popoola urged the general public to have interest in politics in order to nominate qualified leaders to lead them.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara state Council ,Mallam Ahmed Abdullateef said the legislative arm of government should be made to work as an independent entity to make things better.
