He called for the Presidency of Nigeria to be rotated between the Southern and Northern Nigeria and resolution be made that the next President of Nigeria should emerge from the Southern Region.

“The leadership of SYAN commends the Southern Governor’s Forum led by Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu for their efforts so far in defending the region and Nigeria at all times.

“We therefore also use this medium to commiserate with families and loved ones of those who have fallen in the line of duty.

The SYAN spokesman called on leaders across the six geo-political zones to come together and discuss how to bring about genuine unity and the kind of system of government that will strengthen the nation’s unity, progress and socio-economic of the country.

According to him, there is need for the creation of additional state in the South East geo-political zones for equity and fairness.

He observed that the South East geo-political zone is the only zone in Nigeria that has five states.

Adekunle also advocated for the autonomy of the local government referring to them as government at grass root, saying
that all majority of decision about the local government are decided by the state Governors.

“The SYAN therefore demand for the local government autonomy to enable the citizens to see and enjoy the dividend of democracy,” he said.

“The Association call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to find a lasting solution to unstable economy that is affecting the nation and its citizens, while appealing against the planned fuel hike.

“The Association hereby pass the vote of confidence on Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, the executive Governor of Ondo state and Chairman Southern Governor’s Forum on his outstanding leadership in piloting the affairs of the Southern Governor’s Forum,” he said.
