Gov AbdulRazaq Drags Seat With Saraki at Ilorin Central Mosque

There was mild drama on Friday at the Ilorin Central Mosque as Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Bashir Solihu, rebuked some government officials and supporters for allegedly causing unrest and disrupting Juma’at service in the Mosque

The usual childish politics played by the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman again, boomeranged when the latecomer dragged seat with the former Senate President and Waziri of Ilorin, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON, who had arrived the mosque earlier.

It took the wisdom and intervention of some elders, chieftains of the Emir of Ilorin including the Seriki nSalama, Imam Imole and Chief Imam of Ilorin and other worshippers who were at the mosque before the situation was put under control.

Later, calmness and orderliness was restored as they prevailed on the governor’s appointees and entourages who insisted the seat belongs to their boss.

After the Seriki nSalama asked the Governor to leave the seat for Saraki who is the topmost Chieftain of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR, who was absent at the Jummat prayer which commemorated his 27th years turbaning anniversary as the Emir of Ilorin,

The Emir was on his vacation in the United Kingdom. The governor, therefore, sat at their middle for the interrupted sermon to proceed.

During the sermon, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr. Mohammed Bashir Solihu, OON, rebuked the government officers and their followers for disrupting the sermon and tutored them that nobody has special space at the mosque.

He proceeded by calling their attention to the fact that power is transient and that some people were there yesterday and some people will be there tomorrow.

After the Juma’at service, the governor left the mosque premises embarrassingly as no single person chanted or hailed him but the marketers at Oja-Oba and people of Ilorin baded him farewell from the mosque with the chants of “ole” “thief” “ebi npa ilu”.

On the other hand, the Waziri of Ilorin was cheered from the mosque premises and the people in the Mosque chanted “Sai Bukky” “Olooye,” it took his convoy about one hour before he could leave Oja-Oba.

Saraki administration had renovated the Mosque, located at Oja Oba, about twelve years ago.
