Osun 2022: Senate Spokesman, Electorate, Laud INEC Conduct, Improvement

The Osun State Gubernatorial election was on Saturday described as simplest exercise improved upon by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

The Senate Spokesman. Senator Basiru Ajibola made this assertion after he cast his vote at Ward 7 polling Unit 003 Ibokun road 11 Osogbo.

He observed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has improved on the conduct of election in the country.

He said that the conduct was a very simple exercise due to preparedness of the commission.

According to him, this is simplest exercise indeed at this period in the country.

“The security personnel are in place, people are in orderly manner, and on queue to cast their votes without being harassed” he added.

He noted that Upper Chamber allowed electronic transmission of result for effectiveness exercise.

He said, “Electronic transmission of election result was allowed in the Electoral Act of the country for transparent, credible and acceptance result”.

He commended the electoral commission for simple and fast process of election.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere was favorable at the different wards and units visited in Osogbo and Olorunda State Constituencies by our correspondent.

The presence of Economic and Finance Crime Commission (EFCC) personnel at Ward 5 Ataoja E Open space at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park added glamour to the election in Osogbo.

The election at Ward -5 polling unit 042 Railway station, polling unit, and polling unit 014 Akindeko street 2 election were free and fair.

Also election at Ward 7, polling unit 003 Ibokun road and Ward 6 Oderinlo Compound polling unit 009 election were in order and peaceful.

At Ward 5 Akindeko street 1 and Ward 12 polling unit 1 Opposite Catholic Church, election were conducted in orderly manner.

However, Mr. Baderinwa Muideen Adeyemi an APC agent at ward 3 Ibokun road said things are going on well while people conducted themselves orderly.

Also Mr. Adeola Quadri, a PDP agent at the same polling unit said the exercise was going well.

He commended the security personnel who were present to ensure peace and orderliness.

Our correspondent was also at Olorunda Ward- 002 polling unit 009 Latona street, polling unit 012 Open Space T- junction, polling unit 003 Balogun, polling unit 015 Aruru Balogun Agoro and polling unit 008 Osefiri Compound where elections were conducted in orderly manner and people conducted themselves very well.

At Ward 4 polling unit 16 Fagbewesa street election started around 9a.m without hitch.

However, the accreditation of voters and voting were held at the same time in all polling units visited.

One of the Observer on duty Mr. Collins Afolabi noted that the election was conducted under peaceful atmosphere.

He also said he was satisfied with the INEC preparedness towards the election.

Some voters Mr. Ibukun Ola, Olumide Ayoola, Mrs Adunola Doris and Mopelola Fatimo who spoke with Choicereporters on the election noted that the conduct was impressive.

They urged INEC to continue to improve in coming polls.
