Kwara Assembly Approves Gov. AbdulRazaq Request To Concession Kwara Hotel

The Kwara State House of Assembly has approved the request of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to fix and operate the concession of Kwara Hotel to Crystal Groups and Company.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, read a letter from the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRazaq requesting Legislative Approval at the plenary on Thursday.

According to him, the Governor wrote to inform the House that the Kwara State Executive Council in its sitting on Friday 13th May 2022, approved the concessioning of Kwara Hotel to Crystal Group of Companies.

“The government, therefore, requested the Honourable House to approve the recommendation of the Kwara State Executive Council to Fix and Operate the Concession of Kwara Hotel to Crystal Group of Companies.

The Honourable House hereby resolved as follows:

“The Honourable House hereby gives Legislative Consent to the Kwara State Government to Fix and Operate Concession of Kwara Hotel to Crystal Group of Companies as presented by Harmony Holdings Ltd.

“Consideration of the request of His Excellency on Legislative Approval to reallocate the sum of #4,400,000,000 earmarked in the State Bond for Agricultural Sector to Ministries of Works and Water Resources.”

Hon. Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin (Ilorin Central) the House Leader, in leading the debate for the consideration of the request of the governor, commended Mallam Abdulrasaq, for the genuine commitment he has displayed since assumption of office in the bid to make Kwara State great again.

Hon. Magaji recalled that in order to drive the projects and activities of Government, the Kwara State Government sought approval of the House to access a Bond in the sum of N35Billion from capital the market.

However, he said that only the sum of N27,260,000,000,00 was accessed at the conclusion of the exercise.

Hon. Magaji believed that with this request, the sum of N2.6Billion will be left in Agriculture sector for Cashew processing, while the sum of N4Billion and N400 Million will be reallocated to provision of new roads and provision of boreholes/repair of water works, respectively.

The Choicereporters noted that the following lawmakers also contributed to the debate; Hon. Ambali O. Ibrahim (Owode/Onire), Hon. Awodiji Omotayo Felix (Irepodun), Hon. John Bello (Lanwa/Ejidongari) Hon. Muhammed Baba Salihu (Okuta/Yashikira), Hon. Aliyu Wahab Opakunle (Afon), Hon. Ganiyu Folabi Salau (Omupo) and Hon. Awolola Olumide Ayokunle (Isin).

The House hereby resolved as follows:

The House hereby approves the reallocation of the sum of N4,000,000,000.00 to provision of infrastructure under Ministry of Works and Transport and N400,000,000.00 to Ministry of Water Resources for provision of water from earlier the sum of N7,000,000,000.00 initially earmarked for provision of Agricultural facilities under the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology from the #35 Billion Bond Exercise in the 2022 Appropriation Law.

The Clerk to the House was directed to Communicate the Approvals to the Governor immediately after Plenary.
