Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commiserated with the families and associates of the late veteran broadcaster, Yemi Ademokoya Agboola.
The late Veteran broadcaster, Yemi Ademokoya Agboola died on Saturday at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, which had thrown the family of journalists, especially the National League of Veteran Journalists (NELVEJ in Kwara State into mourning.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaiye, the Governor, described her as a core professional and patriot who remained true to the ethics of her job till her last breath.
The statement reads in part, “With total submission to the will of God, we mourn with the immediate and professional families and associates of the veteran broadcaster who bestrode the airwaves for decades. She was a core professional and patriot who remained true to the ethics of her job till her last breath. She was a sage in her own right. Her passion for ethical broadcasting was immeasurable. We will miss her,” the statement said.
“We especially send our heartfelt commiserations to Radio Kwara, the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) where she served as one of its leaders in Kwara State until her passing.
“We pray to the Almighty God to comfort the families she left behind”. The Governor said.
Mallam Tunde Akanbi, the state NELVEJ Chairman who broke the news of her death, Sunday morning said she passed away of the broadcadter during a brief illness at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital at the age of sixty seven.
He described her death as sad and tragic and has left NELVEJ with heavy hearts.
Late Chief Mrs Yemi Agboola, a seasoned broadcaster retired after decades of meritorious service with the Kwara State Broadcasting Service and was famous for her presentation of Ela Loro and Gbelegbo, even after retirement.
She is survived by family, children and grandchildren. The family said her burial arrangements would be announced soon.
Many journalists, who signed the register and posted of the platform expressed shock and sadness at the sudden death of the ace broadcaster.
