13 Burnt Beyond Recognition In Kwara Auto-crash

No fewer than 13 persons were burnt beyond recognition in Saturday on Lasoju along Ogbomoso-Ilorin Express way in Kwara state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, disclosed in a statement in Ilorin on Saturday.

He further revealed that the accident happened between a fully loaded commercial Hummer bus heading to Katsina in Katsina state and an articulated vehicle,laden with cement 7 a.m.

Okasanmi said:”Preliminary investigation revealed that, the Hummer bus coming from Lagos was driving against traffic at the above mentioned point, and inthe process it had a head on coalition with the on-coming truck.

“Thirteen perssengers of the commercial bus were burnt beyond recognition, six others that were seriously injured are presently recieving treatment at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Ilorin.

“Consequent upon the condition of the dead bodies, public health officials and the families of the victim’s requested from the police Command that the victims be released to them for mass burial, the process of which was ongoing as at the time of this press release.

“The commissioner of police, Kwara State, CP Tuesday Assayomo,while condoling with the bereaved families, advised road users to always obey road traffic signs and avoid over speeding at all times”

The PPRO said that investigation into the accident had commenced, adding that the result would be made public as soon as investigation is concluded.
