LG Councils Operating Without Kwara Govt’s Interference – Official

The Transition Implementation Committee, Chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Mr Jare Olatundun

Local Government Area Councils in Kwara state are operating without any interference from the state government.

The Transition Implementation Committee, and Chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Mr Jare Olatundun stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

Mr Olatundun observed that the Local Government Councils before the advent of the present administration in the state were near collapse, due to undue interference of the state government.

He said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq had given Councils free hand to operate to ensure accelerated grassroots development across the state.

He enumerated the achievements of his council, which according to him, included rehabilitation of roads, renovation of hospitals and offices, pointing out that his Council met some challenges and solicited the support of all and sundry in addressing them.

According to him, some of the approved bumps erected by previous administration were demolished for the safety of the people.

He said that the newly constructed Basic Health Centre in honour of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq would be commissioned soon in the council area.

Mr Olatundun, however, charged the people of the state to continue to support Governor AbdulRasaq in the task of ensuring accelerated socio-economic development of the state.
