The storey building affected by inferno in Omupo

Fire disaster again rear it ugly head again on Sunday as it hits a storey building in Omupo, ifelodun Local Government area of Kwara State.

The storey building beside the on-going Town Hall building in Omupo housing computer centre, shops and school.

“Men of the Kwara State Fire Service were called out to put the fire out at Mini-Estate Beside Town Hall, by one Mr Abdulqodir at about quarter past eleven this morning.

“On getting to the scene of occurrence, within some minutes, Firemen were able to fight down the raging inferno.

Although, out of the two flats and eight shops in the storey building, two flats were burnt.

The leader of the fire team who attended the incident said the fire was caused as a result of unmonitored bush burning around the mini estate.

The Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince John Falade urged the general public to always play safe especially during this harmattan period.

A cleric with the Christ Anglican Church Omupo, Rev Funsho Eboda told our reporter that the bush burning in the area led to the fire incident, but was controlled by the fire service personnel.
