COVID -19: Fed. Poly invents ventilator, builds isolation centre

Nasarawa ( Nasarawa State): The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa state said it had invented ventilator with pulse system capable of detecting and providing life support to COVID-19 patients.

Dr Abbdullahi Ahmed, Rector of the institution, disclosed this on Tuesday while addressing newsmen after the assessment of facilities in the institution to ascertain the level of preparedness for the resumption of school.

Ahmed also said that the school had built a standard isolation centre in preparation for possible outbreak of COVID-19 or any other disease in the school.

He added that the school has invented mechanically operated disinfectant tunnel, mass produced sanitiser, face masks and hand washing machine in line with the COVID-19 pandemic protocols.

He restated the institution’s commitment  to prioritise the safety of the students upon resumption.

“We have mass produced hand washing machines with special features to dispense hand sanitiser, built a standard isolation centre in readiness of an outbreak of COVID-19 or any other disease in the school,” he said.

Ahmed said the mass production of accessories needed to curtail the spread of the dreaded diseases especially COVID-19 pandemic would be distributed to classes and various departments.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Education and the Governing Council for the support given to the institution to succeed.(NAN)
