LIONEL MESSI WINS BALLON D’OR 2021

The Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has won his seventh Ballon d’Or after a year in which he won the Copa del Rey with Barcelona and the Copa America with Argentina.

Former Barcelona teammate and Messi’s best friend Luis Suarez was present at the 2021 Ballon d’Or.

The Ballon d’Or was awarded for the first time in two years tonight, after last season’s presentation was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Lionel Messi claimed the men’s award for a record seventh time, with Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho taking second and third respectively after also enjoying superb individual seasons.

Meanwhile, Alexia Putellas, the favourite, has lifted the women’s trophy after an outstanding year with Barcelona.
