AOT Donates N10m To Thomas Adewumi University Teaching Hospital, Urges Igbomina Indigenes To Support Development Of Kwara South

Omu-Aran (Kwara) – A community leader and advocate of educational development, Dr Alabi Oluwatoyin Tajudeen, popularly known as AOT, has donated N10 million to support the construction of the Thomas Adewumi University Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara.
Alabi announced the donation as a Leadership Partner during the foundation-laying ceremony of the proposed teaching hospital held on Wednesday in Omu-Aran.
He also pledged his continued support for the university and called on other well-meaning sons and daughters of Igbomina land to emulate the philanthropic gesture of the university’s founder, Engr. Thomas Adewumi, by investing in projects that would promote educational advancement, healthcare delivery and socio-economic development in Kwara South.
The APC chieftain described the establishment of the teaching hospital as a landmark initiative that would significantly transform the healthcare and educational landscape of the region.
He commended Engr. Adewumi and his wife for their vision, commitment and determination to bring the ambitious project to reality, noting that the proposed hospital represented a major investment in the future of Igbomina land and Kwara State.
According to him, the establishment of a teaching hospital in Omu-Aran will not only strengthen medical education and professional training but also improve access to quality healthcare services for residents of the area and neighbouring communities.
He observed that the project was particularly significant at a time when many communities in rural and semi-urban areas continued to face challenges accessing specialised medical facilities.
Alabi said the initiative demonstrated what visionary leadership, private-sector investment and commitment to community development could achieve, stressing that development should not be left exclusively to government.
He maintained that individuals who had attained positions of influence and acquired resources should consider giving back to their communities through investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure and other essential sectors.
The community leader, who has sponsored several students across tertiary institutions, reaffirmed his commitment to educational advancement and human capital development.
He explained that his interventions in the education sector were motivated by his belief that education remained a powerful instrument for empowering individuals, reducing poverty and creating opportunities for future generations.

Alabi urged other successful Igbomina indigenes, particularly business owners, professionals, politicians and public office holders, to support initiatives capable of bringing lasting benefits to the people of the Kwara South.
He said the development of Kwara South required collective responsibility, sacrifice and deliberate contributions from both the public and private sectors.
According to him, the vision behind the Thomas Adewumi University Teaching Hospital should inspire other privileged individuals to establish projects that would address the developmental needs of their respective communities.
He further appealed to residents of Igbomina communities to patronise the facilities when completed, explaining that community ownership and utilisation would be essential to the long-term sustainability of the project.
Alabi, an APC governorship aspirant, also called on residents and stakeholders to protect the hospital’s infrastructure and equipment against vandalism, theft and other forms of abuse.
He stressed that public-spirited investments of such magnitude should be treated as collective assets deserving the protection and support of everyone.
“Beyond celebrating the foundation-laying ceremony, we must all take responsibility for ensuring that this vision becomes a lasting legacy. We must patronise the facilities, protect the infrastructure and encourage others to invest in the development of our land,” he said.
He described Engr. Adewumi’s intervention as a demonstration of uncommon commitment to community development, urging other prominent Igbomina sons and daughters to recognise that the progress of their ancestral communities was a shared responsibility.
The project is also expected to train medical personnel, generate employment opportunities, stimulate economic activities and attract additional investments to Omu-Aran and other parts of Kwara South.
He reiterated his readiness to partner with the university and other development-oriented stakeholders to ensure the successful realisation of the project.
He said the N10 million donation was his contribution towards translating the founder’s vision into reality and encouraging greater participation by other stakeholders.
The ceremony attracted dignitaries, community leaders, traditional rulers, academics, political stakeholders and other well-wishers who gathered to witness the commencement of the project.
