Kwara State Fire Service Prevents Six Apartments from Sabo-Line Blaze in Ilorin

 

Firefighters in Kwara State have prevented a residential fire from spreading to several apartments and adjoining properties after a blaze broke out in a two-storey building at Sabo-Line, Oke Area of Ilorin.

The incident occurred at about 2:07 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at No. 40 Ile Idiaro, where the building contained about four room-and-parlour self-contained apartments.

According to a statement signed by the Kwara State Fire Service spokesperson and Head of Media and Publicity, PFO Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, only one room was affected by the fire.

He said firefighters arrived at the scene and immediately commenced operations, successfully containing the blaze before it could spread to the other apartments and neighbouring properties.

“The fire was successfully contained, preventing it from spreading to the other apartments and adjoining properties,” Adekunle stated.

The Fire Service said the cause of the incident had not been established, adding that investigations were still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the outbreak.

The Chief Fire Officer of the Kwara State Fire Service, CFO Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to remain vigilant and regularly inspect electrical installations and household appliances to reduce the risk of fire incidents.

Alabi also advised members of the public to report fire outbreaks immediately, stressing that prompt intervention remained critical to minimising damage and protecting lives and property.

The Kwara State Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to responding swiftly to emergencies and intensifying fire safety awareness across the state.
