Pa Ajolore @ 100years: Cleric Advises Nigerians to Love God, Live Contentedly to Enjoy Long Life
The Senior Pastor of Champion Church, Ilorin, Rev. Emmanuel Oset, has identified love for God, love for humanity, and contentment as essential virtues for living a long and fulfilled life in Christ.
Rev. Oset gave the charge on Tuesday while delivering a sermon at the thanksgiving service held in honour of the Centenary celebration of Pa Dr. Olusola Ajolore at Arca Santa Event Centre, Ilorin.
Preaching from Matthew 22:35–40 and Luke 12:16–21, the cleric said a life without God is ultimately empty, regardless of worldly achievements or material possessions.
“If you do not have God, you have nothing. A man may possess wealth, fame and influence, but without Christ, he is spiritually bankrupt,” he said.
Rev. Oset noted that many prominent individuals lived successful earthly lives but died without a relationship with Jesus Christ, stressing that true fulfilment comes only through God.
He urged Christians to cultivate genuine love for God and for their neighbours, explaining that these are the greatest commandments upon which every other aspect of life depends.
The cleric also cautioned against unhealthy competition, advising people to remain focused on God’s purpose for their lives.
“Do not compete with anyone. Stay in your lane, run your own race with the fear of God, and make the best use of the gifts and opportunities God has given you,” he said.
Illustrating the dangers of unhealthy rivalry, Rev. Oset cited Pastor Myles Munroe, who often taught against comparing oneself with others and encouraged believers to pursue God’s unique purpose for their lives.
Drawing lessons from the parable of the Rich Fool in Luke 12:16–21, he warned against placing confidence in material wealth while neglecting one’s relationship with God, emphasizing that contentment remains a key ingredient for a meaningful and enduring life.
The event also featured goodwill messages from several organisations and distinguished personalities, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State Chapter, led by Bishop Sunday Adewole; the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI); the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN); Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ilorin; and the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS), among others.
Special goodwill messages were also received from former Head of State, Gen. Dr. Yakubu Gowon (retd.), Bishop David Abioye, Pastor Paul Enenche and other eminent Nigerians.
Pa Dr. Olusola Ajolore, a renowned scholar and PhD holder in Psycholinguistics from the University of Illinois, is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI), Nigeria.
He devoted 35 years of his life to the education sector, serving in both secondary and tertiary institutions and impacting generations of students.
Responding, the centenarian attributed his attainment of 100 years to God’s grace, mercy, faithfulness and unfailing love of God, expressing gratitude for a life marked by divine favour, resilience and purpose.
According to Pa Ajolore, the secret of my sound health and strength is my love for God and relationship with God.
Present at the occasion were the Kwara State deputy governor, Chief Kayode Alabi, Prophet M.O. Adio, Rev. Idowu Olawuyi, Rev. Taiye Adeola, Rev. Mises Adeyemo, Mr Olusegun Olatiregun and other senior officials of FGBMFI, among many other dignitaries and clergy.
